EIMI Training and Certification

You’re a great teacher — but sometimes, you feel a gap.

That gap is the space between pedagogy, technique and what your student actually needs to succeed at their instrument. This training is the neuroscience-informed, evidence-based framework to help you reach every student, every time — now available as self-paced training, cohort courses, and a certification path for educators.

Music ed programs are busy - and they don’t cover this.

Pedagogy classes give you structures for teaching technique, not shutdowns. It tells you what to teach and how to scaffold, but not what to do when a student checks out, melts down, or can't get regulated enough to learn.

Every student deserves instruction that meets their brain, not just their instrument.

Where the gap actually shows up

Most music teacher training covers technique. Almost none of it covers what to do when a student shuts down, melts down, or checks out — or how a brain that’s dysregulated, neurodivergent, or carrying trauma actually learns music.

That gap is where EIMI starts.

We've stood in that classroom too, in front of a student we couldn't reach, wondering what we were missing.

The EIMI Framework

EIMI isn't a curriculum replacement.

It’s how to teach your curriculum in a way that really hits.

That student you wish you could have helped — the one who needed different tools that you didn’t have yet. You can learn those tools now.

  • "Take this course if you need to increase student buy-in and motivation. Take this course if you need to increase retention in your programs. Take this course if you need help understanding those "weird student behaviors." Take this course if you want to really deeply care for your students beyond their achievement, but also want to see them succeed."

—Heather Calame, Music Educator in Santa Cruz, CA

  • "Our students aren't just feeling more connected, they're practicing more (and more productively), they're learning faster, they're connecting with other students more quickly, and they're finding their musical home."

—Niki Reading, School of Rock—Bend, Oregon

  • "Emotionally Intelligent Music Instruction is fantastic! Emotions are essential to music, so if you are interested in fostering healthy students who love music and develop the values that make the world more beautiful, then learning this stuff is non-negotiable."

    —Josh Goo, QuickStart Clarinet

  • "If you identify as a highly empathetic person, this will seem like you've been intuitively understanding of this process; what's different here is the language that can be given to these notions."

—Christopher Lavoie, Instructor/Admin, LyriCo Conservatory, Gainesville, FL

  • "Emotional intelligence is vital to many aspects of music education and more importantly to our society at large."

—Kevin Makarewicz LPC LMT Expressive arts therapist

  • "This training weaves the research of music and the brain and packages it in a way that makes sense. I feel so much more confident and equipped to support musicians in a meaningful, research-based way. This is a resource that I can dig back into whenever I need it."

—Katie McFarland, Band/Chorus/General Music Educator, Maine
